Pringles

duncan_k_pringles

Earlier this week I was given an assignment to photograph a Pringles can. We where broke up into groups of three and where told to design 5 sketched out diagrams. We then chose a sketch that was provided by one of the students and begin thinking about how we would go about photographing. I really enjoyed working with the “Art Director” because it gave me a chance too capture not only what i was wanting but also the one who designed it… Here is the photo I captured. Also a special thanks to Hannah Wallace for being so photogenic. (photos by Kyle Duncan)

Dairy Shoot

Milkj

So for our first Commercial Assignment we photographed Dairy. It was hard to get unique with shots like these because the majority of everyone shot the same thing. I figured as long as i lit the subject as best as I could then i would be good. I hope you all enjoy!

A pretty recent assignment given to me by my product lighting teacher “Glass” has made me realize that it takes knowledge and a great eye to capture such an image. I decided to photograph two glasses (Bride and Groom) just because I didnt see many others making the attempt to do so. Please leave me some feedback and let me know what you think.

Photographing Metal.

Photographing Metal.

Last week I got hands on experience with photographing metal. Our product lighting teacher Kevin Eames tells us “Metal sees everything.” With this said it is important to know what your metal is seeing, In this photograph it’s a white board (which was reflecting the light) Other thing i did was diffuse light while reflecting two hot lights on two separate panels while adding a 250w hot light to a blue paper background. This shot was taken at F/32 @4 seconds iso 100 on a d7000

Product Lighting (Fabric)

Product Lighting (Fabric)

Lighting Fabric
In Product Lighting, I am getting hands on experience with “Lighting Fabric.” Lighting Fabric is something I have never done before so I found it pretty interesting. I found the most difficult thing to do is lay the fabric out the way you want. It is important that when laying out fabric you get the correct feel of what you are working with… I had to find a way to get the thickness and texture of the fabric without someone feeling it for him or herself. So what I did was folded the fabric over like a hand fan, and for the lighting I mad all of the sources low and almost even with the camera. I have learned a lot just by trial and error. You don’t want much of anything else in your shot because it tends to take away from what you are trying to sell. With this being said I decided to keep all of the distractions out of the frame and only show what I’m selling.
